Playing 'Catch-up'!!!

My daughter just talked me into starting a cooking blog...and so it made sense to do a family blog as well. I have never been great at keeping a journal, so we'll see if 'blogging' gets anymore loyalty from me!

My birthday is coming up soon, and my family really surprised me this year...for some reason throwing the party over a week early will do that to a person. I knew that they were probably doing something FOR my birthday, but it was still too far away to be suspicious! When Stu and I arrived at my son's house (the two teens still left at home had been hanging out with them since the day before) and the door was opened by Michael (my son) with a video camera in hand...I thought he was just being his usually goofy self! (I mean that ohhhh so lovingly! lol) But, as we walked down the stairs and my other kids and grand kids were there and they yelled surprise, I was not sure in my head if it was something for me, or if they had something planned for their dad-who was right behind me, so I wasn't sure whether to keep walking down, or look back at him and yell 'surprise' as well! But, when they started singing 'Happy Birthday', and Jasmine said are you surprised mom (or was it Jas who said that? Like I said, I was
c o n f u s e d!!) It all started to click into place!

We had a wonderful afternoon...it was one of those days where you wonder what you did to have such amazing kids (and grand kids!!) Favorite food, favorite cake, and for my present---something I was actually lusting after...so does it get any better??? NOPE! I was going to take pictures, but I didn't have the SD card in my camera (camera was last years Mother's Day pressie---I told you they are AMAZING!) Hopefully Michael won't take that as permission to post the video of me at the door, which I never did see. hahaha! So no pics to post, but next time I will be posting pictures from all things to do with Rachel's wedding! Sad that her and David (new Hubby) and Alice weren't with us...they've decided they are old enough to make their own decisions, and MOVED AWAY!!! But maybe if we play nice, and post pics of lots of fun things here, we can talk them back our way!

Although before any of my kids go out of their way to move somewhere to be closer to me, they've already said they would have to know that we have stopped moving every couple of years! Sooo, have we Stu? I at least know it won't be THIS house I stop my moving with....but who knows about the area.
